Fred Tomaselli: New York Times
March 18 — April 8, 2013

Tomaselli first became known for highly decorative, intensively worked paintings that evoked escapism through both their imagery and their materials. New York Times presents a more direct confrontation with reality: a series of altered front pages from our nation’s newspaper of record. The works set up a striking contrast between newspapers’ sober, columned depictions of reality and Tomaselli’s vivid interventions. The results are sometimes funny, sometimes sinister, often both.
